The increase in the usage of online scheduling is rapidly growing month by month.  Business owners are seeing the importance and value in providing clients and prospects the convenience of booking a meeting time with them at their leisure.

In addition to this value add to the client/prospect, you'll also see the amount of time saved by not having to go back and forth in email and phone tag just to narrow down a meeting time.

Sounds great right?  Well I can say first hand it is.  

Over the years I have used half a dozen of the most common scheduling systems out there.  It wasn't until I was introduced to the team at ScheduleOnce while attending a conference in Arizona back in 2015 that I became a fan, user and heavy advocate of their platform.

Not all scheduling systems are created equal and you have to take into consideration the different features to really evaluation what is right for you.

Now I do heavily recommend it, but there are other options if you don't need all the feature.  If you just need 1 booking link and no integration with a CRM, then Calendly would be a good options for you.

InviteOnce is a game changer in my opinion. It gives you one-off scheduling options for clients and prospects without needing to set up a whole scheduling link in ScheduleOnce.

How a podcast can help your brand

I know you have heard of a podcast. In fact you probably even listened to them before.  But why should you have one?  You see a podcast simply a different medium to your content. Much like a blog, a podcast is a way for you to inform, education and build and audience.

It's just done with audio.

When you have a podcast it doesn't have to stand alone.  There are many ways to take the effort you put into your podcast and cross it over to other mediums in your marketing.

For example, you record a podcast interview with a guest, then you take that 20 minute episode audio and upload it to, for $20 they will transcribe it to text.  Then take that text and turn it into a blog post.

Take some quotes from the text and turn them into social media graphics to promote your brand and your podcast.

In addition..

Do 12 of these over a year, then take the transcribed audio and put it together as an e-book that now becomes a lead magnet to generate leads.  Run them into your ActiveCampaign CRM and nurture those leads to buy your products or services.

3 Things You Need To Be Successful In Social Media for 2019

How do I find the time to do social media marketing Well, this episode we're going to break it down into three things, three important things when it comes to your marketing, not only in social media but mostly in social media, but in anything you do online, and I'm going to give it the acronym of TAR and that's going to stand for Time, Authenticity and Results. So let's, let's tackle the first one, the big time. Now we had a client give us a question of how do I find the time to create the content and that's really what spawned this episode here. Now when I say time, it's you need to figure out how important it is for you to get results with your social media. And by that I mean do you really feel that you want to commit the resources to get results

Because if you're not willing to give the resources, if you're not willing to schedule your time, there's the T, your time to create content, you're not going to get the results. We're in an age now where people are expecting content to come out through social media. We can't exactly just be posting for the sake of posting and expect to have people just flocked to our business and call us the phone to ring just because we shared a blog post either that we wrote or, or that somebody else wrote, unexpected happen. We need to be there and we need to be there consistently. We need to be there authentically or whatever that word authentically on. There's another word for it. But, uh, I'll stumble over that through that, but we need to be there in our authentic nature. We're going to talk about that next, uh, for us to get the results.

So I have a client who has, has really grabbed a hold of this and what they've done is they schedule a morning, once a month to go in and shoot videos. They shoot videos for different content that comes up. They do a weekly show that they roll out, so they shoot for those and then you know, if they're doing any kind of lead magnets or lead generation, they'll shoot those videos as well. Um, but it doesn't need to be a high production value. I mean, it, it could be just that you're going to pull out your cell phone, you're going to shoot for videos and you're going to schedule them to go out. But the key is that you need to make the time. If you sit around and say, okay, I'm going to do it when I have a free moment, you know what happens.

You don't ever have that free moment because this type of stuff, if you're not used to doing it, is always going to get shuffled in the bottom of the pile. And if you're anxious opponent, you're nervous about it. You're shy about creating content. Again, you're going to try everything in your power to push that aside. You need to look at your social media as if it is your number one client. You're not going to put off your number one client. You're not going to put off your number one customer, so why don't we do it in our social media. It's just because it's something that we're just seeing as evolving so fast that you're busy in your business doing the things that you do, that you're, you're not really aware of what needs to be done next. And that's why you rely on other experts that are out there.

And that's why you hire consultants such as us to help you keep abreast of these types of changes that are happening. Um, so the number one thing that I want you to think about is scheduling some time, whether you want to do it weekly, whether you want to do a biweekly or monthly. Obviously if you're going to do it monthly, you're going to need to schedule a bigger block of time because you need to be creating content. You know, your business, you know what's happening out there. Uh, and this is not the episode where we're going to come up with what type of topic ideas or how to do that. That's going to be coming up in future episodes. But we're really focusing on you making a commitment to your business and maybe that's scheduling some time also to learn how to do certain things, so if you want to figure out how to shoot a video, we want to figure out how do you create some graphics or things like that in your business or what type of things you need to write about.

Social media doesn't have to be hard. Those who dedicate time to their social accounts will see the most success.

How To Plan Your Blog Posts In 10 Steps

You know that writing blog posts are a great way to grow your SEO, reach new prospects and expand the value of your website. But have you ever found it challenging to come up with topics to write about, or even struggle with writing them?

Here are 10 steps to help you plan out your blog post.

1. Who would want to read your content?

The answer to this question will help you clarify the target reader of your content writing.

2. Build a detailed picture of who is your ideal reader.

Describe your ideal reader, including as many details as you can (age, gender, occupation, hobbies, number of children, hobbies, etc.).

3. Figure out where that person would hang out online.

Do some online detective work. Visit blogs and discussion forums that would appeal to a person with this profile.

4. Make note of issues that are important to this group.

Over time, you will see certain questions or issues come up repeatedly in forums and in comments on blogs. You can use them to get an idea of what your readership is most interested in and the kinds of problems they want to solve.

5. Read news stories that would be interesting or relevant to your target readership.

Recent news coverage can give you ideas about issues that affect your ideal reader. The stories can also provide you with some helpful background information when you are visiting blogs and online forums.

6. Consider the language the group uses.

If you are going to target your audience appropriately, you need to make a real connection to them. One way you can fit in is to mirror the language they are already using. If you find your target audience is using highly technical writing, you should do the same. In a case where the language is more casual, you will need to keep that in mind when developing your content.

7. Look for elements that are missing in discussions.

Are there topics that should be addressed (or discussed more often) but aren’t being covered? Are people visiting forums and asking questions but not finding answers? These missing pieces can give you ideas for the kinds of writing your readers will want to read.

8. Participate in online discussions.

The best way to get to know your target readership is to talk to them. You don’t need to explain that you are conducting research or go overboard by participating in every discussion on a particular board. Start slowly by adding thoughtful comments that will move the discussion forward, then start asking some questions to generate new discussions.

9. Share some writing and monitor the results.

At a certain point, you need to start generating content to share with readers. Good quality content is going to attract readers, and you will want to be sure that everything you share gives some value to the reader. Avoid fluff at all costs and watch your traffic numbers to see which posts generate the most traffic and comments. These statistics can give you valuable clues about targeting your readership. Internet users will vote with their clicks, and you will be able to see patterns emerge for certain types of posts over time.

10. Ask your readers what they are interested in reading about.

Conducting a survey is an effective way to keep your finger on the pulse of your readership. To encourage people to participate, consider entering each respondent’s name in a draw for a free gift. Include a list of topics the respondent can check off but include a section where respondents can make suggestions as well. Use the answers to target your content to what your readers want.

How my CRM changed my life

For many that headline may seem like a weird title. How could a CRM change your life?  Well that is what I’m about to tell you.

You see in mid 2010, I was sitting in my basement office of my house working on a project.  As I was working on a clients project I was distracted by an email that came in.  It was from an existing client who asked me, “Can you send me the password to log into my website because I misplaced it and secondly would I have a few minutes to show them what this ‘facebook thing’ was all about”.

Wow, OK.  Now I had to look up their website login, which at the time was in a folder as a txt file on my hard drive.  Super secure I know right.  Then I needed to find a time and a way to show them about that “facebook thing”.

Now I don’t know if it was perfect timing or what but I do believe in serendipitous moments.  It was on that day about 2 hours later my phone rang and it was a sales rep from a company I had never heard about.  He was telling me that he has this crm marketing automation software that could save me time, keep me organized and help me grow my business.  Wow…exactly all the things I was struggling with.  He asked me if I wanted to book a live Infusionsoft demo.

Me being reluctant to the claim put him off and said to call back another time.

Another time came and he called.

Again I said I wasn’t ready.

This went on for 2 months and I finally said yes to the demo.  We did it and I was more than impressed with how it worked.  The ability to automatically build and send out email campaigns was impressive.  It was also cool that I could have contact records in the cloud (accessible anywhere).  Remember this was 2009, so that wasn’t mainstream as it is now.

At the end of the call he told me the price and asked me if I wanted to sign up.  It was a promo for like $250 USD per month and at that time a $2500 kickstart USD.  Ouch I thought…I’m not ready for this.  I don’t even know if it would work.

So again I told him to call back another time as I had to talk to my accountant (If you ever hear that, it’s code from a small business owner to say I don’t have the money).

Being investigative in nature, I then turned to the internet and searched “Infusionsoft + Reviews”.  I was surprised at the amount of independent reviews written on blogs by users of the software.  These were not fabricated or endorsed by Infusionsoft, but rather people wanting to tell their audience about their wonderful experience.  It was then and there that I knew I needed to find the money to do this.

I waited for my rep to call me back and I told him I would try it.  Because there was no contract, it was only month to month I felt a bit more relieved. I made payment over the phone via credit card and was sent a link to schedule my kickstart with a guy named Clint (remember that name as it’s important).

In the email was a link to an online calendar.  This was Clint’s personal appointment calendar.  I was able to choose a time he was free and I was available…pretty cool.  So I did and when I did a few minutes later Clint sends me an email welcoming me, how he is excited to do out kickstart and what I should expect.  This email also had a few attachments in it to help me prepare.  Little did I know this was an email from Infusionsoft and Clint didn’t actually have to send that himself.  However from my perspective (the customer) I was experiencing great customer service in a timely manor.  I was impressed and immediately thought about how I could do this in my business as well as the time it would save me.

6 weeks passed a we completed our 6 training sessions, with homework in between.  By the end I had a grasp of the software and was ready to do what I do best, get my hands dirty.

I immediately recorded 10 video about Facebook.  From simple things of how to create an account, to how to post a photo.  It was basic, extremely basic.  I created a web form with Infusionsoft to put on my website and had people opt in to receive these 10 videos in 10 emails over 10 days.  On day 11 it asked them what they thought of the videos.  This email as all the others came from me.  So those that enrolled in the video “lead magnet” were able to just hit reply and tell me what they thought.

This is where the real magic happened (well no one was sawed in half but it was an eye opener).  I have over 60% of those who enrolled email me to tell me how informative it was and they wanted to set a time to talk with me about how to use Facebook in their business.  Wow a LEAD!  This was LEAD GENERATION!  I was now an INTERNET MARKETER!

Fast forward a few months and I was able to convert those leads into additional sales for existing customer and new sales for prospect.

During the first year of being a customer of Infusionsoft and a student of the life of digital automation, I decided to fly to Arizona for their InfusionCon conference.  It was a gathering of small business owners just like me who went through the same journey I did.  Here is what really brought it home. I was able to meet in person not only the people I talked to in their support chat when I had a question, but I was able to meet Clint.  Remember him, he was the guy who helped me learn.  It was like meeting a business icon in my opinion.

To this day, over 6 years later I’m still using Infusionsoft in my business, I have over 800 contacts in my database (clients, prospects and leads) and I have over 30 active automation campaigns.  From lead generation, customer relationship building to satisfaction survey follow up.  I’m even able to use their app to input a contact by simply taking a photo of their business card, applying a tag and an automated follow up will go out.  Again…more magic.

Back to my headline, the CRM that changed my life.  In the first year I was able to double my sales without adding a single person to my team.  Today I have all my clients information securely organized and accessible to me when ever I need it. I also can effectively follow up with leads, stay in touch with clients (even tell me to mail out a birthday card). All this while I’m able to focus on the current project I have.  I can confidently say that I don’t know that my business would be where it is today without Infusionsoft being part of it.

In addition in 2013, I became an Infusionsoft Certified Partner and have been selling and training clients on the kickstarts and using the software since then.

I’ve been the prospect, I became the customer, experienced being the student and now I’m the teacher.
